Android co-founder launched ‘Essential’, A high end bezel-less smartphone


Andy Rubin co-founder of Android also comes with their smartphones name as ‘Essential’. Today is the official launch date for the Essential and this device is available on Sprint, Best Buy, and there own website. To start, Essential choose US to sell the Smartphones and after some time it will available to other countries too.

Essential smartphone price is set to $699 only in US and it is available in Black colour only, company has also decided to launch this in white colour but there is some delay with white colour. Sprint is promoting this phone and shoppers can lease the phone for 14.59/month for 18 months. Sprint says the phone is estimated to ship by August 28.

Yesterday, company said those who already pre-registered the essential phone had started receiving emails from company about expected shipping as well as any kind of updates. Ruby also said last Wednesday that “Essential also begin revealing release details for the Phone within a week”, So, Thursday’s update was not unexpected.


Best feature is that The Essential Phone is almost all screen. Insight from specs, It has 5.71-inch display with a resolution of 1312×2560 pixels with a full edge display having minimal borders. Apple iPhone 8 is also expected to come with the same design. In accessories, Phone is coming with some accessories as a start-up with 360° camera.

Hardware, it has powered by 1.9Ghz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and it comes with a 4GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage without support of external storage. In optics, it comes with a 13MP primary camera with flash light and 8MP front shooter camera for selfies. Along with this it has Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, NFC, and USB OTG support. It supports 4G/LTE, 3G and 2G GSM, for all of these networks it supports Nano-SIM.

If we talk about sensors, it had Magnetometer for compass, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Ambient Light sensor, Gyroscope, and Barometer. It runs on latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat and company also confirmed for official update for 2 years, that means this device will not get old for 2 years. Although this device is not in India and we expect that Essential soon launch this or upcoming phone in India also.
